Continuing Professional Development at ANZRP

Australia New Zealand Recycling Platform (ANZRP) recently introduced a new scheme to support learning and development in the organisation.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the term generally used to describe the learning activities professionals engage in to develop and enhance their domain knowledge, skills and experience.

CPD is achieved through a balanced mix of learning with CPD points available for a range of learning activities including attending conferences, workshops and seminars, speaking and instructing, formal education and service to industry.

ANZRP’s CPD program extends to ‘on the job’ learning to include developing knowledge in business processes, acquiring and mastering new skills, sharing best practice techniques, thoughts and ideas, all focused towards developing professionally within the work environment.

Our CPD program enables learning to become conscious and proactive, rather than passive and reactive and aligns with our Innovate and Collaborate values.

In order to be recognised as fulfilling the requirements of ANZRP’s CPD program, team members must achieve the minimum requirement of CPD points associated with their level of work annually while completing their learning plans.

Employees, with the support of their manager, decide their learning needs and how best to fulfil them. Learning goals are clearly articulated and well-planned as part of the annual performance review and development cycle and link to ANZRP’s strategic direction.

Learning and development supports both role development and career development and our approach to learning and development is consistent with ISO 30422:2022 Human resource management — Learning and development.

Australian businesses expect to spend $8 billion on learning and development across the coming year – an increase of 15 per cent on last year’s spending. Australia ranks 24th of the 32 nations within the EU in terms of adult non-formal learning rates*

ANZRP continues to invest in its people to develop both capability and capacity. Last financial year we exceeded 70% of our training budget with over 1200 hours, or an average of 62hrs, of learning per team member.

Following the success of our pilot program, we have restated our commitment to learning and development by including a new strategic goal for the 24/25 financial year which is intended to continue to build our skills and strengthen our capacity to meet the needs of our members and broader industry.

We will focus on personal learning experiences and professional development to maintain a culture of continuous learning and growth, ensuring that our team remains enabled and motivated and ANZRP is a great place to work.
