Australia and New Zealand Recycling Platform (ANZRP) Announces New Chair and Two New Board Members Over the Past Three Months
Over the past three months, ANZRP has undergone a number of changes, reflecting its ongoing commitment to leadership and member focus as a co-regulator under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS) and a product stewardship organisation. In November, Claudia Bels was appointed as the new Chair of the Board (after serving as Deputy Chair for 6 years), alongside the appointment of Fatida Un as a Member Director Board member. Most recently, in January, Janet Leslie joined the Board, as an Independent Director further strengthening the company’s leadership team.
Introducing Our Chair: Claudia Bels
Claudia brings a wealth of leadership experience and strategic vision to ANZRP. With over 30 years of commercial and governance experience across various industries, she has held executive and non-executive roles that leverage her expertise in law, finance, and risk management. Her extensive knowledge of international cross-border transactions, member organisations, and engagement with government and regulators will continue to be invaluable to ANZRP. Claudia’s governance career has been marked by a strong focus on sustainability—both financial and environmental.
Currently, Claudia is a Director of Endeavour Energy and Australian Settlements Limited. She was previously the Deputy Chair of ANZRP and stepped into the role of Chair in November, bringing her vast experience to the leadership of ANZRP.
“I am honoured to take on this role at such a pivotal time for ANZRP,” said Claudia. “The company has an incredible track record of collaboration and innovation, working with members to protect their brands by delivering quality and innovative e-waste circularity programs. I look forward to working with the Board and leadership team to build on this success.”
Welcoming Our New Board Members
Fatida Un
A seasoned sustainability leader with over 20 years of experience, Fatida specialises in circularity, decarbonisation, and stakeholder engagement. She has led transformative sustainability programs across ICT, FMCG, and MedTech sectors, helping businesses integrate sustainability into their broader strategies while driving innovation and accountability.
Currently serving as Environment & Sustainability Manager at Epson Australia and New Zealand, Fatida develops strategies that embed sustainable practices into business operations and fosters collaborative partnerships. She chairs Epson’s sustainability committee, ensuring that sustainability remains a key priority across the organisation. Prior to this, she held pivotal roles in major organisations, advancing compliance frameworks, leading life cycle assessments, and optimizing energy and waste management strategies. Fatida’s background in R&D, particularly in remanufacturing, has given her a deep understanding of circularity and its challenges. She joined the ANZRP Board as a Member Director in November, 2024.
“It’s an exciting time to join ANZRP, and I look forward to working alongside the team to advance its mission and drive meaningful progress in resource recovery and circularity,” said Fatida.
Janet Leslie
In January, Janet Leslie rejoined the Board as an Independent Director, bringing nearly two decades of expertise in sustainability leadership. Janet originally played a crucial role in the development of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme and was a founding director of ANZRP from 2011 to 2021.
As the former Sustainability Manager for Canon Oceania for 19 years, she was instrumental in implementing Canon’s global sustainability policies in the Oceania region and developing the local ESG strategy. She also managed product compliance and health and safety initiatives.
Janet remains a passionate advocate for multi-stakeholder product stewardship programs and has contributed to key sustainability initiatives, including the Cartridges for Planet Ark Program (C4PA) and the Australian Battery Recycling Industry Association (ABRI). Janet has also led Canon’s engagement with the Australian Packaging Covenant and the Battery Stewardship Council.
Recognised as a Product Stewardship Champion by The Product Stewardship Centre for Excellence at its inaugural awards in 2021, Janet brings to ANZRP a deep commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
Janet has also been appointed to the role of Deputy Chair at ANZRP.
“I am thrilled to return to the Board at ANZRP and contribute to its continued success in serving the product stewardship needs of its members and of the community,” said Janet.
Looking Ahead
With these new Board appointments over the past three months, as well as the appointment of Carla Vasconi as Chief Executive Officer, ANZRP is positioned for continued success in an ever-evolving e-product stewardship landscape. The company remains committed to partnering with members to exceed NTCRS requirements and deliver best practice e-product circularity solutions.
